“The only way to have a friend is to be one.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

1. Values

Always start with your Values. Generally, this will ensure you at least end up being who, you'd like to be, even if where you end up in life isnt exactly where you thought you may.

Try start with the section called 'On Commonly Held Values' under Values: Models & Theories to review a list of 26 commonly held values.

2. Self

To improve your relationships with others, first you need to improve your relationship with yourself.

Review Self to ensure what you are taking of yourself into relationships is your best self.

3. Compassion

'Trench warfare' ie. stand-offs or the inability to listen to each other, is a frequent cause of relationship breakdowns.

By always leading into relationships with Compassion this can be minimised. It does not mean we need to tolerate toxic relationships, but it does help guide how we will act, even if it is not reciprocal.

4. Harmony

Following on from Compassion above, how we communicate matters. We often communicate without first considering others perspectives or how we may be heard.

Review Harmony, to better hone your skills and truly learn how to listen and communicate with others.

4. Others

Now we have done the work on ourself, we are ready to build better relationships with Others.

It is worth the work, positive relationships with others are a gateway to many of life's benefits and joys.

4. Read (Continually Improve)

We humans are complicated. Continually improve your knowledge, ability to communicate and relationship building skills by studying Human Nature (Library).

We wish you all the best. Enjoy and take care.
